And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. (Quran, 30:21)

Wali A wali is a male guardian of the bride who looks out for the best interests of her and protects her. The permission of the father, brothers, male relatives, or other individual designated as a wali must be obtained. Witnesses – Two adult witnesses must be present.
